HOLIDAY DECORATING CONTEST

The Village of Champlain will once again be holding its Holiday House Decorating contest. Judging will be held Dec. 15-21st, 2024. Residents are asked to turn their lights on by 5 p.m. Each night of judging. The winners will be announced at the Jan. 13th Board meeting and will be posed on our Village website and Facebook page.

Come join us in listening to some vinyl of holiday music across the decades. Refreshments will be available. Free and all are welcome.

 

ANNUAL CHILDREN'S CHRISTMAS CRAFTS AND CANDY CANE HUNT

 

Children and their families are invited!

11:00 am to 12:30 pm @ Champlain Meeting House: Christmas Crafts for children to make (FREE) with hot chocolate and treats.

12:30 pm: Annual Candy Cane Hunt at the Playground across the road.

Volunteers are welcome and candy cane donations accepted.

Stay in the area to see Santa arrive around 4:30 pm down the road at Paquette Par with the Gazebo. More delicious treats and goodies from Santa himself along with some caroling and the annual tree lighting.

CHAMPLAIN KID'S GARDEN CLUB

We are building an outdoor classroom by the community garden overlooking the Great Chazy River.

This classroom will be used to host a children's garden club, outdoor cooking classes, and plein air art events....plus much more!

This first event will begin the process of creating this classroom with the help of our community's children and families.

Come by and hear what it is all about, see what our plans are, and help begin the gardens.

 

AMAZING CHAMPLAIN CHALLENGE 2022 FUN RUN

The Village of Champlain Fun Run series will begin on July 10th at 5 pm.

Events will continue on July 24, August 7 and 21, all at 5 pm.

Children ages up to 16 can participate.

Runners who participate in 3 of the 4 runs will earn a tee-shirt at the last run event.

The August 21 run event will be held at the Champlain Playground where we will hold a celebration with a potluck meal.

Registration forms are located at the Village office and on the Champlain Kids Connected FB group page.

When attending, please arrive 10 minutes earlier than the 5:00 race time so there is no traffic on the road. Volunteers are welcome to support and supervise the run course.

 

 

KAYAK RACK REGISTRATIONS

 

The Village of Champlain is accepting applications for Kayak Rack space at the River Street boat launch in the Village of Champlain. Preference will be given to Village of Champlain residents. Remaining spaces will be offered on a first come, first serve basis to non-residents. Bolts are available to help secure kayaks, but users must supply their own lock.

Town of Champlain Swim Program

 

The Town of Champlain is once again offering a summer swim program.  Due to renovations being done to the NCCS High School Pool, the swim program will take place at the Chazy Central Rural School.  The program is available to students residing in the Town of Champlain (including Villages of Champlain and Rouses Point), who attended K-5th as of the 2021-2022 school year.  Weeks, sessions, and times will be assigned on a first come first serve basis as there is limited availability. Only sign up for one session per child.  The program will include both instruction and free time. The instruction is based on the Red Cross, Learn to Swim Program.

Champlain Celebrates Earth Day & Arbor Day

April 30th

10:00 a.m. Village Wide Cleanup: Participants will meet and be assigned an area to clean up. Bags and gloves will be provided.

 

12:00 Childrens Crafts: Seed Pot and Birdhouse

 

1:00  Tree Planting in the playground area and 100 small trees given away

 

Knights of Columbus Senior Dinner

 

When: Sunday, April 24th at 4:00 p.m.

Where: Champlain Catholic Men's Club

                 3 Oak Street, Champlain, NY

Cost:      Free to Seniors 65+

 

The Senior Dinner sponsored by the Champlain Knights of Council #3525 and the Catholic Daughter's Court Lily of the Mohawk is taking place on Sunday, April 24th at 4:00 p.m. at the Champlain Catholic Men's Club.

 

The menu is ham dinner with all the fixings. Dinner free to Seniors 65+

 

The event is open to Seniors 65+ residing in the Village of Champlain and Rouses Point and the Town of Champlain, as well as members of Council #3525, the Catholic Daughters and their spouses.

International Slow Art Day 2022: Roxham Road by Photographer Bill McDowell

Bill began to photograph at Roxham Road in June 2017. In the years since he has been drawn to make photographs that can be considered poetic documents; contemplative photographs influenced by cultural and historical readings, by spending considerable time at Roxham Road, by his experience having grown up in the North Country, and by witnessing the continued affront of racialization in the United States.

1st Place goes to Neil and Beth Walker at 54 Oak Street.

2nd Place goes to Clarence & Sharon Patrie at 735 Prospect Street.

3rd Place goes the Steve and Heidi Lincourt at 44 Spruce Street.

   A series of four cooking classes will be held for teens beginning Monday,August 9 at 2 pm at the Champlain Meeting House. Participants will learn how to prepare the dishes and then will be given the ingredients to take home to fix for their families. Free. Maximum of eight in the class.
